Nature strip redesign in Deakin

AFGM redesigned a dull nature strip for a Deakin property, using drought-tolerant plants and a new irrigation system to create a more attractive and resilient outdoor space.

The problem

After maintaining this client’s garden for some time, we were engaged to transform a dull and uninviting front nature strip into a vibrant, attractive feature for the client’s property. The strip needed to be practical and resilient to Canberra’s harsh weather conditions.

How we solved it

With the client’s vision in mind, AFGM created a detailed design plan for the nature strip, focusing on spacing and symmetry to enhance visual appeal.

Using our horticultural expertise, we selected drought-tolerant plants suited to the local climate, ensuring longevity and low maintenance. The outdated irrigation system was replaced to support the new plantings and maintain a healthy garden over the long term.

The outcome

The once barren nature strip was transformed into a visually appealing and functional space, making a positive impact on the property’s overall appearance. AFGM continues to provide ongoing garden maintenance for this client and has completed several other projects.

"Duncan and his team have been our friendly gardening maintenance and construction team since 2016. They have been great at keeping all of our gardens in good order, inclusive of fertilising and mulching, hedge pruning, weed management and green waste disposal. They’ve also undertaken a number of structural jobs for us including building new paths, planter beds, sprinkler maintenance and retaining wall construction. Not only are they dedicated and professional, but they are also a good team. We highly recommend A Few Good Men. Top notch!"
